HP Readalong ~ 5.2

Soooo, I've been a rather crappy readalonger for the past couple of weeks in terms of commenting, thanks to midterms and spring break travels and whatnot, but I resolve to be better!  Well, as much as Order of the Phoenix will allow, because this shiznit is boooring.  SO MUCH unnecessary detail.  SO MANY extra words.  And what is with the daily recaps?!  But anyway.  Here's some Harry Potter-ish news for you: Richard Griffith, the actor who played Uncle Vernon, died yesterday.  All the sads for the man who did a fantastic job of portraying one of the biggest douches EVER.

I feel like this picture is disrespectful but this is how we know and love him, right?  Or at least how I know and love him.  Happy Harry Potter Day.

HP Readalong ~ 5.1

I'm writing this post on Tuesday night because I'm leaving for a short trip to Austin tomorrow morning and don't want to miss a post or worry about writing it while I'm away.  If you're reading this, then the "schedule" feature was successful.  If not...then I'm just talking to myself.  :]  Happy Harry Potter Day!

P.S. I mostly listened to this section on audiobook so that I'd finish in time to write this post early and I've forgotten most of what I told myself to write about because there are no post-its while I'm driving.  Oh well, I'm sure the rest of you will make all the points and I'll be annoyed that I forgot.

Divergent ~ Veronica Roth

Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it. -Divergent, Veronica Roth

The only reason I used an Audible credit on Divergent was because my friend Sarah told me to, and then it sat on my shelf for months before I got around to listening to it.  The same thing happened with The Hunger Games and I'm not sure why.  I must have some sort of aversion to YA dystopia, despite loving dystopia in general.  Nevertheless, I tore through Divergent in no time.

HP Readalong: Goblet of Fire

Welcome to the last post on Goblet of Fire (one day late)!  The fact that I actually managed to read this was impressive, considering how stressful school and life have been, but it's like a forced relaxation exercise and totally works.  Next week we'll be starting Order of the Phoenix (eugh, the worst of the Harry Potters) but I'll be out of town so I have no idea how that'll work buuuut I'll figure it out.  Onwards!

HP Readalong ~ Post 4.3

So, last week I provoked a surprising outcry over my suggestion that maybe Harry could have been less attention-seeking in his efforts to prove that he's not seeking attention, maybe by deflecting some attention.  To make up for it (but not take a word of it back) can I say that I was impressed by how quickly he forgave Ron?  Because that was pretty impressive for a 14-year old who feels put upon.  Am I forgiven?  Just a little bit?  No?  Ah well... Happy Harry Potter Day, y'all.

Also, sorry if the formatting is crazy.  Blogger's being weird and I have to class so...yeah.

HP Readalong 4.2

It's Friday!  That means it's Harry Potter Day!  This week we're talking about the first task in the Tri-Wizard Tournament!  It was a relatively short read this week, even though I only picked up the book while eating breakfast and sometimes before bed, but I managed to keep myself from reading ahead.  Progress, right?
